Heat resistance: Usable at approximately 3000°C in a reducing atmosphere and up to about 400°C in an oxidizing atmosphere. Thermal expansion rate: Shows a value less than half that of iron and has a small expansion rate. Thermal conductivity: Carbon exhibits values for thermal and electrical conductivity similar to those of metals. Excellent chemical resistance and is not corroded at room temperature.
